The approach
Before changing the layout, MELIORE proceeded with a discrete-event simulation in order to understand the flow of product inside the plant. The simulation demonstrated the problematic area and the potential gains of the proposed changes, all with great precision. The analysis showed that a modification of some management rules added to a slight adjustment in the layout would increase the production capacity by 50%.
